POGO – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:01 am by Volunteers

Pogo (3)

My name is Pogo and I am jumping for joy as I am going to be living in my very own foster home soon.  But I would jump even higher if I could find my very own forever home.  I am a 1-2 year old Shih Tzu boy with a tan and white coat.  I’m clipped a little short right now, but as you can see despite the short haircut I am very dashing!  I love to play, and have fun.  I may be playful, but I love to find someone’s lap so that I can cuddle, get pets, and relax.  I also love to go on car rides.  And, I am also really good with kids.  All in all, I am just one happy little fella.

If you would like to hear more about me, please check out my Petfinder page.  Also, you can email ADOPTIONINQUIRIES@yahoogroups.com for even more info about me.  You’ll find out what a special guy I am!

I am altered, up to date on all shots and heartworm negative.

TURBO-I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:57 am by Volunteers

Turbo

My name is Turbo and I am one very lucky dog!  I’m the featured Fluff of the Week!  What could be better than that?  Actually, finding my forever home would be the best thing that could happen to me.  Let me tell you a little about myself.  I am a 6 year old, Shih Tzu boy.  And, as you can see from my picture, I have a beautiful black and white coat and a great haircut!  My foster mom says that I am her best boy.  I’m well-behaved, quiet, love to sit on laps, and I especially like to get ear rubs.  But, I am also all boy when I play.  I enjoy my foster brothers and sisters and love to run and romp with them.

I follow my foster mom all over the house and love to sit next to her as she works.  I sleep with my foster mom too and cuddle with her whenever I can.   I’m not a barker, I only bark a little when I think my foster mom is taking too long to serve my breakfast or dinner!  I’m housebroken too – what more could you ask for?

I have my very own Petfinder page and there’s more information about me there.  Please check that out.  I think I would be a great addition to your family.  I sure love my foster mom and my foster siblings, but I know that a forever home with my very own forever family would be the best thing for me.  Could that home be with you?  Please contact my foster mom at parsley@tamu.edu.  She’ll tell you what a great little guy I am and how I can become part of your family.

MEMPHIS – BETTER KNOW AS ELVIS!! – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:06 am by Volunteers

Elvis

Hello!!!  My name is Memphis but I prefer the name Elvis.  I am handsome and debonair just like the original Elvis, but I don’t “howl” very well at all.  I’m a pretty laid back, sweet and gentle Shih Tzu guy who loves to go on walks, rides in the car, and just laze-around the house with my foster family.  The one thing that would make my life just perfect would be to find my very own forever family.

Let me tell you a little about myself.  As you can see from my picture, I have a beautiful black and white coat.  I am 5 years old and weigh about 12 pounds or so.   I am quite the happy-go-lucky lad except when there is a thunderstorm.  WOW do I ever HATE thunderstorms!!  When I first got to my foster home, my foster parents put me in my crate because they were going to be away from the house for a little while.  During that time a BIG LOUD THUNDER-DUNDER OF A STORM came our way.  My foster parents thought I would be safe in my crate, but I was so scared of the storm that I tried to chew my way out of the wire crate.  I found out that was not a very good solution and because of that experience I am missing a few front teeth.  But, I still look quite cute and handsome despite that!  Storms still scare me and now my foster parents don’t put me in the crate during a storm.  I need to learn that storms will not hurt me and hopefully that day will come soon!!

I am working on my house training and that is coming along quite nicely.  My foster parents praise me when I “do the right thing” and I love to be praised!  I also love treats and will do a little happy dance when I think a treat should come my way.  I enjoy other dogs and I am also good with children.  To put it bluntly, I am just about the perfect fluff and would love to be your special fluff!  I can’t wait to show you what a great little guy I am.

If you’d like to hear more about me, please email my foster mom at mina184@yahoo.com  She knows how very special I am and she would love to tell you all about me.  You can also check out my Petfinder page for even more information.  You can even apply to adopt me at www.shihtzurescue.com

I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots and am heartworm negative.

MURDOCK-I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:27 am by Volunteers

Murdock 1

Hi!  My name is Murdock Harris.  I’m a 3 year old black and gray Shih Tzu mix boy.  When I first came to Lone Star I weighed about 11 pounds, but now I am gaining some weight and I’m starting to look pretty good if I must say so myself!!  The volunteers at Lone Star found me in the local animal shelter just in the nick of time!!!  For some reason nobody was interested in a dog who didn’t even face the camera for his photo!   I guess they didn’t realize I am blind and a little hard of hearing.  Don’t think that slows me down though!  I can still prance around with the best of them!

I have a foster brother who likes to play with me and jump all over me.  I tolerate this quite well and usually just wait for him to get tired.  I’m not a total laze-about though!   You should see me dance around when my foster mom gets home.  I’ll show you excitement.  She says she has never seen a dog that wags his tail so much.  It seems to go constantly.  I love my new foster home, and I feel very lucky to be here,  but I’ll be honest, I’ll be glad to find my forever home where someone will give me lots and lots of love and cuddles.

I’m great with children who understand my limitations and I’d love to have another dog to play with on occasion.   My foster mom says she thinks I will do great almost anywhere.   I have learned to adapt very well to my disabilities and hope I can find a forever family who can see what a wonderful little fluffer I am!

Please look at my Petfinder page for more information about me.  Also, please contact my foster mom at amykuc@yahoo.com.   She’ll be happy to tell you what a great guy I am.

I am altered, up to date on all my shots and am heartworm negative.

MIGNON-I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:20 am by Volunteers

Mignon

Hi!  My name is Mignon and I am so excited to be up for adoption so I can find my very own forever home!!!  My foster mom says that I get excited about lots of things!  But who wouldn’t as I now realize that there is nothing but good things in my future!!  The wonderful volunteers at Lone Star found me at the local animal shelter and now my life is looking up, up, up!!!

I’m a black and white Shih Tzu mix and am not much over 1 year old.  As you can see from my picture I have the cutest little underbite!!!  When I had my first visit to the vet I weighed about 8 pounds but I’m gaining weight and getting bigger now.   I love to cuddle when I am picked up.  I might take a little time to warm up to you, but once I know you I LOVE you!!!  I also like to go on car rides and usually the motion of the car makes me take a little nap.

I would love to have a forever home with another dog who likes to play.  Because I am just a youngster, I need to learn all about playing with people, pets and toys.  I did get the chance to meet some cats at my foster home and I did just fine with them.

If you’re looking for an adorable friend who loves to play and give kisses, I’m the fluffer for you!  Please check out my Petfinder page for more information about me.  If you think I would be the perfect young fluff for your family, please contact my foster mom at amykuc@yahoo.com

ASHLEY

Ashley Wilkes

Hi!  My name is Ashley Wilkes Fitzgerald.  My name has special meaning so I want to tell you my story.  The first part of my life was a nightmare.  I lived under very terrible conditions – so bad that the local Humane Society took me and my siblings from our home.  We were sent to a rescue in North Carolina to some wonderful people named the Fitzgeralds.  Thus, our last name.  They named us after “Gone With the Wind” characters because we are such survivors.  When we were found, we had no hair at all.  Our bodies were covered with mange and skin infections.  Our skin was so scarred that we may never have a full body of hair.  I have hair over most of my body now, but only a few wisps of hair on my head.

My age is really unknown due to the years of neglect I suffered the first few years of my life.  The doctorssay that I am anywhere between 6 and 10 years old.  It is believed that I am a Shih Tzu/Chihuahua mix.  I am a very well traveled little dog.  I was rescued in North Carolina.  I was sent to Lone Star Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso rescue in Houston, Texas, because they have had such success working with dogs with skin issues.  They were able to get my skin problems under control and now I just need regular baths.  I also recently went on a road trip to California!  I was supposed to go to a rescue there but they didn’t think they would be able to find a home for me.  I’m now back in Houston looking for my forever home.  I know there is someone out there that will give me a forever home.  I am a sweet and very loving little dog.  I LOVE to cuddle!  I also love to give kisses!  I’ve come such a long way from my early life.  All I need now is a forever home of my own.  If you are looking for a unique little dog I’m the dog for you!

Please look at my Petfinder page for even more information about me.  And, you can always contact my foster mom at ADOPTIONINQUIRIES@yahoogroups.com  She knows how very special I am.

BON BON

Bon Bon

Greetings!  My name is Bon Bon and I am a special little Lhasa lady.  I have a beautiful beige coat, I am 19 pounds, AND I am full of Lhasatude!!  That means that I am a typical Lhasa so if you know and love my breed, I’m the one for you.  I can be a bit of a grump at times and my foster mom sometimes calls me a grumpy little lady!!  There are certain things that upset me, but I let you know when I’m unhappy.

Normally I’m a good girl and have come a long way since I came to Lone Star.  I know that I have to be a good girl to find my forever home.  I probably would like to be an only dog.  I don’t play with the other foster dogs, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like them.  There’s one thing that gets me upset about them.  If they get close to my food I am all Lhasa!!!

I would love to find my forever home, preferably as an only dog.  If there are children in my new family that’s OK with me as long as they are over the age of 10 and understand my breed.  Please email ADOPTIONINQUIRIES@yahoogroups.com for more information about me.  You can also check out my Petfinder  page for even more information about me.

NASH – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:02 am by Volunteers

Nash 20091216 I

How cute am I!!  Just take a look at my picture and you will see one happy little guy.  My name is Nash and I love my little stuffed duck (although I thought ducks were supposed to be a color other than purple).  I am very healthy, happy, playful, and affectionate and that’s just about all the most perfect things to be!!!

I am a 6 year old Shih Tzu male who is looking for his forever home.  I am now in foster care and I have foster brothers and sisters to play with and wonderful human friends to take care of me.  It’s really nice here, but I won’t be here forever.  I know that there is a home for me out there where I can be special to my very own family.

I am very healthy, but I do have to have drops in my eyes daily.  I have what they call “dry eye” and the drops help my eyes stay healthy.  I am VERY good when the drops are put in and don’t complain at all.  I love to play and do very well with my foster siblings.  We run and play and romp together and you would never know that I am 6 years old.  I also like my quiet time and enjoy being cuddled, petted and hugged.

If you think you would like to make me a part of your family, please email my foster mom at adoptioninquiries@yahoogroups.com.  She will tell you how wonderful I am and what a great addition I would be to your family.  You can also check out my very own Petfinder page for even more information.  I promise to love you and to be the best boy ever!!!

MANDISA (MANDI) – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:57 am by Volunteers

Mandisa 20091220 001

Hello!!  My name is Mandi and I am a very happy little girl.  I no longer live in a breeder’s back yard and now am in a wonderful foster home.  I have my very own bed, toys, and a foster family to love me and play with me.  I have truly changed from a scared, anxious little girl to an easy-going, friendly and quite likeable dog!  I am learning what it means to be a dog and I like it!!!

I am about 5 years old and spent most of my life having puppies.  When I was rescued and taken to Lone Star I had just had a litter of pups.  Now my puppies are on their own and don’t need me.  So, I am now ready for my forever home.  I had some problems with my eyes and needed surgery to correct my eyelids so that they would close completely when I sleep.  My eyes turn out a bit, especially my left one.  I may look a little funny, but I can see very well and can close my eyes fully.  I need drops in my eyes every day, but I am a very good girl when my foster mom puts them in my eyes.  I also had bladder stones and needed to have surgery to remove them.  Luckily they were the kind of bladder stones that could just be removed and I am not on a special diet.  Now that my surgeries are over, I FEEL GREAT and life could not be better.

I am a sweet girl and I get along with my foster brothers and sisters great.  We play with each other and just have fun.  I LOVE being a dog!!!  When my foster parents come home I run to the door to greet them.  I also LOVE to follow my foster mom around the house.  Again, that’s something new for me since my former home was a backyard.  I mentioned that I have my very own dog bed BUT, I sure would love to have my very own special person to sleep with in their big bed!  That would be perfect!

Please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net if you want to learn more about me.  I am an unusual little girl, but I am happy, healthy and full of love.  I just need my very own special family.  Maybe that could be YOU!!  Also, please check out my Petfinder page.  There’s more information there about me and also some other pictures.  Please consider me as part of your family!

GONZO – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:42 pm by Volunteers

Gonzo

My name is Gonzo and what a great little guy I am!!  I am a 7-8 year old Lhasa Apso and I weigh 20 pounds or so.  I have a thick white coat with black tipped ears and am quite the handsome lad!!!  I have a very sweet and loving disposition and love to be loved by my special human friends.  My foster mom says that I am just a down right great guy and she says I’m very low maintenance – whatever that means!  I think it’s a good thing!!

One of my very most favorite things to do is to go on a walk!  I also like to go for car rides too!  When I see that my foster mom is getting my leash for us to go somewhere I get VERY excited.  I love to see people on my little adventures and will greet you with a friendly tail wag.   I also get along OK with other dogs.  Sometimes if a dog is too pesky towards me I might let them know they are too close, but that’s all.

I also love my quiet time and particularly enjoy getting pets from my foster mom as I sit on her lap.  That is very special for me.  I sleep all through the night and sometimes I wake my foster mom with my snoring.  I am also housebroken.

I only have one eye, but that doesn’t bother me a bit.  I still see everything I need to see and I run and play all the time.  I have a particular toy that I like and I carry my little lion that roars all over the house.  Sometimes I have to think if I should put my toy down to eat a treat or to eat my dinner!!  Usually food wins over and my little lion toy is always there waiting for me when I’m finished eating.

I know I could make you very happy.  I just want someone to love and someone to love me back and take care of me.  Check out my Petfinder page and also please email my foster mom at sunny@lsstlar.org  She’ll tell you all about me.

I am altered, up to date on all shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.
