Hello!!! My name is A. Yardley Turner. Isn’t that a GREAT name? The “A” in my name stands for Adorable, Appreciative, and Awesome. “Appreciative” is definitely what I would be if you gave me my forever home. I am a 9 year old Shih Tzu mix boy who has had a difficult life. But, now I am in a wonderful foster home, learning all about what the good life is. I spent part of my life outside tied to a tree when my first family moved away. The neighbors helped me out of that situation and now I am in a foster home. Believe it or not, I live in Kansas, but I can travel anywhere if there is a family out there for me.

I’m a little overweight, but my foster dad is helping me lose those extra pounds. He takes me for walks every day. When he brings out the leash I think to myself “Oh, no, not again”, but then we start walking and I see the birds and trees and everything else and totally forget that I didn’t want to go in the first place. I also only have one tooth! But, that does not keep me from eating my dry kibble, and treats. Can you see why I’m a bit on the pudgy side?

I’m not a very affectionate guy, but I do show you that I love you by running and jumping and playing and trying to make you laugh. I also enjoy just sitting and relaxing by your side. Here’s another picture of me just relaxing.

I bark when I want something, usually that something is food as, have I mentioned this before, I do love to eat! I live with other foster dogs, but I usually just leave them alone. I am also on some medicine and take my eye drops and thyroid pill without a problem.

I know I might be a bit of a challenge as I do have some peculiarities as you can see. But I do promise you that I will love you from afar and be very, very happy in my new forever home. I’m baaaaack!!! My name is Arthur and I am now 5 years old. I am a black and white Lhasa Apso/ShihTzu mix lad. I was adopted and quite happy, but my family had a new baby and they decided that I was no longer a good fit for the family. I’m pretty bummed, but I JUST KNOW there is a forever family somewhere out there for me. I’m a little afraid of men, so my ideal home would be with a middle-aged woman or women. Or even a couple who would be willing to help me get over my fear of men would be great. I LOVE to be scratched and the men in my foster family won me over to their side by giving me lots of scratches and love. I love to sit in my foster mom’s lap and I play with a big stuffed ball and a small Frisbee. I have a bit of Lhasatude, but my foster family just leaves me alone for a bit and then I am fine.

I must tell you that I also LOVE the bathtub. Don’t ask me why, just accept that I do. If there is a storm I run to the bathtub and jump right in. I feel safe there during all the thunder and lightning around me. I also like to be groomed in the bathtub. My foster mom clips my nails, gives me my medicines, and brushes my hair – all in the bathtub. That’s just fine with me!!!

You can see I looked pretty bad. I had Demodex mange and was VERY uncomfortable. My legs were totally red and swollen from the mites and I had big sores on my body that were so itchy I kept scratching and scratching and scratching. I also scratched my eyes and got an infection in them and they were swollen shut. To make matters worse, when I could open my eyes a bit, my foster mom discovered that I had a ruptured eye. I consider myself very lucky that I did not lose it. But the GREAT news is that I have full vision in both eyes, I’m clear of the mange, I’m not scratching, and I am handsome, handsome, handsome. Here’s a picture of me now, surrounded by all my treasures! Can you see how happy I am?

When I first came to Lone Star I was sick, confused, withdrawn and very sad. I spent most of my day in my crate sleeping. But once I realized that my foster family loved me, that my life was getting better and better each day, and that I had TOYS OF MY OWN, I started to come out of my shell. I am one happy little guy who now will give you lots of kisses and affection. And I love to play, play, and play. I also love that I have other dogs in my house and I just think everyone should be my friend. My favorite thing to do is to take all the toys from my toy box, one by one and put them on the couch. If anyone is looking for a toy, they look on the couch first as that’s where they will most likely be. I think it is great fun that my foster mom puts all the toys back in the toy box so I can take them out again. What a fabulous game that is!

My name is Mosby Harris and I am a 5-6 year old Lhasa Apso. I have a beautiful brown, red and white coat. I am what my foster family calls a LOVE bug. I LOVE to sit in your lap, I LOVE to curl up for a snooze in something soft that I find on the floor. It could even be someone’s clothes rather than a pillow!!

I LOVE getting my hair brushed and will shake my back leg when you find a good brushing spot. I LOVE going for walks and usually bring back a memento like a twig, or a stick or a fern. I don’t carry those home – they somehow get stuck in my hair! I also LOVE classical music and prefer the radio on at night when I go to sleep.

I would LOVE to find a family who understands the Lhasa personality. I would do best in a home without children as I am pretty friendly, but might get a little grumpy with new people and other dogs. Basically, I LOVE my home, I LOVE my foster family and I would LOVE to find my forever homewith my very ownh forever family. Please let that be with you!!

My name is Spackle Barker and I am a 13 pound, 3 year old Shih Tzu boy with a tan and white coat.  My foster mom says that I am just about “THE PERFECT” dog, so I think you should know about me because I’m ready for my forever home with my very own forever family.

I am a laid back guy, but I love to go on long walks with my foster family.  There are two other dogs in my foster family and I like them, but we don’t play together.  We all just “hang out” together and watch the world go by.  My very favorite thing is to get pets and hugs from my foster mom.  I love to sit in her lap and am always at her side ready and waiting for that opportunity.  We have a swing in our backyard and when mom is there I ask to sit in her lap.  We swing and swing and swing and I LOVE IT!!!!

I am healthy except that I have a heart murmur and am on medication for that.  My heart murmur doesn’t slow me down when we go on walks though!  I hardly ever bark, I never jump on people and I am housetrained.  What more can you ask for?

Flett is my name and playing is my game.  I am a happy Lhasa Apso lad who is looking for his forever home.  I am 2 years old , weigh 15 pounds and I have a beautiful golden coat.  My foster mom tells me that I also have a great disposition.  I love to play and I especially love to play with my foster brother Bobaluey.  We race around the yard, wrestle, and just have a fun time together.  You can see that I enjoy having other dogs in my life, so if there is a playful dog in my forever family for me, that would be fantastic!!  When Bobaluey is not available I find my own toys to occupy my time.  I just like to be occupied with life in general.

Am I handsome or what?  My name is Zorro Barker and I am a beautiful 7 year old black and white Shih Tzu lad.  I was called Zorro because I have a great mask that reminds every one of the real Zorro.  Cool huh?  I have lots of energy and my spunkiness shows when I lead the charge to chase down the squirrels in my back yard.  I live in a foster home with my Bichon Frise friend Cassie who is my constant buddy.  We both run after the squirrels after I alert Cassie that they are in OUR back yard!!!!  Not only do I enjoy being around Cassie, but I also love Townsend, the Ragdoll cat who lives with us. 

I am deaf and am also on heart murmur medication, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying life at all.  I play with my toys and with Cassie and I am on constant vigilance to make sure the backyard is safe.  Also, I love to go with Mom on our morning and evening walks every day.  I lead the way showing her which way to go.  The exercise I get keeps me strong and heart healthy.  I am completely house broken and just a joy to have around.  I appreciate SO MUCH that I am in a wonderful foster home and I try to make certain my foster family is happy that I am here.  I sleep in my own little bed and I love to take my toys to bed with me.  But………the best ever thing that could happen to me is to find my forever home with my very own forever family.  I am really looking forward to that day!

My name is Bach and I am a 2 year old, 16 pound Lhasa Apso boy.  I have a beautiful champagne colored coat and I am HANDSOME!!  I am a very nice guy who loves people and other dogs.  I enjoy playing with my foster brothers and sisters but sometimes I play a bit rough.  It would probably be best if my forever home had either no children, or children over the age of 12 who understand how to treat me.   Oh, and did I tell you I’m not that fond of cats?

I was rescued from one of the local animal shelters and I was heartworm positive when I came to Lone Star.  I’m finished with my treatment now and am heartworm free and ready for my forever home.  I like to spend time in my foster mom’s lap and get lots of loving from her.  I’m known to give lots of love back to her and I am quite a good boy.

Did you know that November is Adopt-a-Senior month?  That means that I can be the featured fluff of the week!!  How COOL is that?  I don’t really consider myself a senior though – just young at heart.  In fact, I’m probably younger than the 10 year old they thought I was.  I’m more like 6 and that’s definitely not Senior range!!  I can run and play with the best of them and that’s what counts!

My name is Sorrento and I am a white and black Lhasa Apso lad.  I weigh about 17 pounds and have very thick soft fur.  I have little black dots of fur underneath my white coat and I think that makes me look quite handsome.

I was a little grumpy when I first came to my foster home, but who wouldn’t be?  I had no idea what was happening.  Also, I had some problems with my eyes and I am on eye drops.  My eyes are getting better, I’m feeling better and I am getting used to my new foster life.  In fact, my life is very good right now!  I love to play and am learning how to play with my foster siblings.  It took me a little while to learn how to play with them and I am still learning.  I particularly love my toys and I make my foster mom laugh when I carry them.  She thinks it’s funny that I make them stick straight out into the air.  I think it makes sense because I just want everyone to see that I have MY VERY OWN TOY!

Woof to you all!!!  My name is Romaine Ranger and I am a 3 year old, grey and white Shih Tzu mix boy.  I am just a happy lad, quite sweet and laidback, yet I can be very playful.  I get along well with other small dogs, and I do well by myself when my foster parents are away.  I do get quite excited when they return and do a special little happy dance to let them know how glad I am to see them. I’m a spunky little guy full of “pup-onality”!!
