MERLIN – I’VE CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

My name is Merlin and I am a Forever Foster. I am a 16 year old Tibetan Terrier who came to Lonestar a few years ago with my sister Mims. Our dad died and no one in the family could take care of us. We were very fortunate that the wonderful Lonestar volunteers took us in, even though we are a lot bigger than Shih Tzus and Lhasa Apsos!!. Mims and I were inseparable and stayed together until a few months ago when Mims crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I was sad and lonely for a few weeks, but now I am doing quite well.
Even though I am 16 years young, I still am living the good life. I’m a bit slower when I get up from the floor or my bed, but once I’m up and moving I can go at a pretty good clip!! My favorite thing to do is to patrol the yard and keep the horses in line whether they need it or not!! I also LOVE to roll in the grass – it feels so good!!!
I have developed some kidney problems and am now on special food to help that condition, but that’s all that is a concern at this time.
As you can see by my picture, I’m quite a good looking senior citizen. I recently had my hair cut shorter for the summer and I’m enjoying my boyish new look. I am a very low maintenance dog. I always want to know where my foster mom is and what she is doing, but I don’t demand attention. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE attention and to be petted, but I am also very happy knowing that I have my grass to roll in, a bed to sleep in, regular meals, and a foster family that loves me. Life is definitely good.
Even though I am older and am in the Forever Foster program, there is always a chance that someone might be interested in adopting me or helping with my care by donating to the Forever Foster program. If you are that special someone, please contact my foster mom at shihtzu-rescue@comcast.com . I am altered, up to date on all my shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.

Merlin ran to the bridge on Monday to see his sister Mims and the other dogs that went before him. He has left a hole in my heart along with the love I still have for both these wonderful babies. I hope he is feeling better and the two of them have picked up right where they left off. I miss you Merlin and thanks for all the hugs you always let me take.
