GABRIELLE GILLINGHAM – I’VE CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
My name is Gabrielle Gillingham and I am a very sweet 10 year old Shih Tzu lady. I am considered a forever foster because of my age and some health problems I have.
I originally came to Lone Star from a local Houston animal shelter. I was VERY underweight at 10 pounds when I first came into foster care. I was also quite ill from an infected area on my side. I had to have surgery to remove the infected area. But, I had a TERRIBLE reaction to the anesthesia and I almost died. Luckily, the veterinarians were able to pull me through that ordeal. No more surgery for me!!
Unfortunately, after my surgery, my infection didn’t get better. As I could not have any more surgery, the doctors tried a different antibiotic and that did the trick! I am infection free and my wound healed!!!
I do have some problems with my back legs, mostly due to arthritis, hip dysplasia, and a luxating patella. Since I live in Arizona and we have tile floors, I was slipping all over until my foster mom bought me some booties to wear. These help me a great deal and I now romp around the house with no problem at all! I LOVE my little booties and think I am quite stylish!
I am a shy little lady and prefer to be with my foster mom most of the time. I don’t necessarily like to be held, but I sure do like to be close to my foster mom. I am a little fearful of strangers and prefer the comfort and safety of my foster home. I have a funny little bark and my foster mom thinks that I may have been debarked at one time. But even with my funny bark, I am able to let you know my needs.
I am definitely a sweet girl and happy to be a Lone Star dog. I know I have found my “forever-foster” home.
