My name is Case and I was the featured Forever Foster on April 19, 2008.  You can go back and look at my original Forever Foster story here:

A lot has happened to me since that story and I’d like to tell you all about it.

I gave my foster family quite the scare and they thought that they were not going to be able to keep me alive.  If you recall, I have Lissencephaly which is a brain disorder.  I am sometimes in pain and have seizures because of this condition.  And, I am on medication for it.  Recently I went to the veterinarian and he made an adjustment to my medication.  Within two weeks of this change in medication, I started having more seizures and was becoming quite clumsy.  It got so bad that I could hardly walk and my rear legs would just go out from under me and I would fall.  Soon after, I started having the same problem with my front legs giving out.

My foster mom called the veterinarian back and we had to go through a two week time period of adjusting my medications.  Unfortunately the one medicine they thought was causing my problem couldn’t be changed for two weeks.  During this two week time period my problems got worse.  My foster mom had to carry me across the tile floor to go outside as I could not keep my balance.  Even the carpeted areas of the house were a problem.  My foster mom was so good to me during this time.  I could tell that I was worrying her a great deal and she took wonderful care of me.

We weren’t even sure if it was the change in medication that was the problem.  Mom knew that if the medication was not causing it the chances of me getting better would be pretty slim.  But then, after I was able to be off the medication we thought was the problem, I started to get better little by little. We noticed that I was getting stronger each day and less clumsy.  By the end of one week, it was obvious that I was REALLY getting better and the medication was the problem.  Now, it’s been a month since I had my setback and I feel that I am pretty much back to normal.  I am walking around enjoying life again and haven’t had a seizure at all since the change in medication!  Thanks Mom for taking such good care of me!!

When my foster mom and dad went on a short vacation, I stayed with another foster family until mom and dad got back.  I was a good boy there and an ideal houseguest.  They even told me that I would be welcome back at any time.  I’m so grateful that I can still be a happy, good little boy.
