Le’Poodley Worth-Lhasa/Poodley girl – after surgery!

Great news …..Le’ Poodley has good sensation in her back legs and is able to stand on them WITH assistance at the moment.  However, that is exactly what the docs were hoping for this soon after surgery.  She has urinated once on her own but will stay in the hospital until she continues to go on her own for 24 hours.  Best case is Monday but more likely Tuesday or Wednesday.

She should continue to improve, with physical therapy, but the extent of the recovery will depend on her and how she responds.  Typically, improvements are seen for the first four months of recovery.  After that, she will be pretty much what she is at that time.  She may have a stilted or wobbly gait but it’s looking very much like she should be able to walk on her own soon. We will just have to work together to maximize her functional recovery.   Yea for Le’ Poodley!

As a volunteer with Lone Star for over 3 years now I am always so touched by the generosity of people to help these little dogs. When I saw this little girl and got the email from the officer at the shelter that even with her injury she was full of love and kisses my heart went out to her and I just knew we had to give her another chance. I just want to personally thank all of you for your donations that have done just that. We all take a very personal interest in each dog that we rescue and they are all equally important and worth that second chance. For those that can’t I want to say you mean the world to us and without your help there would be no tomorrow for many of these little guys.
