Le’Poodley in her foster home
Here is the report from Becky, Le’Poodley’s foster mom…
She is doing very well….her legs don’t support her yet without assistance but she moves them in walking motions when I take her out so that is a good sign that she has motor skills and is trying to use her legs properly. She has a great disposition and is very loving…definitely a people dog. Everything else is working well…eating. drinking, peeing. pooping, etc. All in all, she is a pretty good patient…the docs stress cage rest for six week…i.e., out to potty but that’s it. They even want her to be fed her in the crate and for the most part, she is fairly good. At times, she is very vocal about wanting out and I can hold her in my lap…just no exercise right now. Just warm compresses and a few therapy exercises.
After two or three weeks, when she starts feeling better, I imagine it’s going to get pretty tough….you want to let her out but the doc really made me understand that the first six weeks are very critical.
After six weeks, we can start gradually working back up to some normal activity but she should never jump or be overly physical. The doctors said that around 15-20% have a re-occurrence so it looks like the best future for her is to be a very contented lap baby…something she is especially partial to.
