Pate Davis – another shih tzu down in the back

Can you believe this? Just last week, the Houston SPCA called with two cruelty confiscations that needed us. One just had a little hair loss – his name is Stilton Davis – beautiful blonde boy – watch for him on the “Say Hello to” blog. But the other, little Pate (PA-TAY), was just a total mess. Hair matted all over his body, toenails that were ALL, and I mean ALL, growing in a circle. Two were starting to embed into the pads of his feet. His right eye has had trauma in the past and is shrunken and his left eye has external scar tissue interferring with his sight. His teeth, well, they’ll most likely have to come out. Luckily, his hearing is good and he has a fantastic personality.
But, he also has a chronic disc problem like Monkey. He is still walking, but our vet thinks this needs to be addressed as quickly as possible.
I took him to Gulf Coast today for an evaluation and, yes, they think it is a chronic disc problem – just like Monkey – he’s been in a bad way for a while so needs surgery fairly quickly. The problem – we’re still trying to fundraise to pay off little Monkey man’s bills and now this.
And, now I’m hyperventillating because hurricane IKE is moving into the Gulf and many of the computer models have it heading straight toward Galveston. We are far enough inland to not take the direct hit, but have always lost power in the past for a while.
So, we really, really need to have funding in place as soon as possible for little Pate to get “fixed up.” Please help us with both Monkey and Pate’s “repair” expense.
